Introducing Lola Marie Chamberlain

I was really starting to get discouraged because my due date was coming up and I really didn't want a C-Section again.

At about 2 am on Tuesday (3/15), I woke up to a mildly painful contraction and had another one so I started timing them. They stayed 10 mins apart until 3 am and jumped to 7 mins apart so I woke up Shaun and let him know what was going on. The doctor told us to come in when they were 5 mins apart. About a half hour or so later, my iPod battery was dying so I went downstairs to time them on my computer and pick up the house a little bit. The contractions automatically jumped to 3 mins apart and I couldn't walk through them. I went back upstairs and told Shaun that we needed to make our phone calls and head in.

Thankfully my friend, Michelle, who was watching Tyler showed up in about 20 mins because the contractions were getting intense. We barely made the 30 min drive to the hospital and when I checked in I was having one contraction right on top of the other one and my midwife got me right back and checked me at about 5:15 am. I was 9 cm. dilated already. They instantly got me a room and started wheeling me back. In the hallway I started screaming (yes I was that lady) "The baby is coming NOW! I need to push NOW! I can't hold it, I need to push NOW!". We barely made it into the room and onto the bed and my water burst all over my midwife before she even got herself all covered up. Ooops!

I ended up pushing for about an hour and 45 minutes. I have a narrow pelvis and we had to change positions a lot to get my pelvis to open properly and allow me to push her out. It was tough and intense. I admit I yelled and cried a lot. I am very thankful that Shaun is physically strong and a supportive husband and my doula was awesome.

Lola Marie Chamberlain was born at 7:41 am on 3/15/11 weighing 6 lbs. 13 oz. and was 21 in. long. She has beautiful strawberry blonde hair like her Aunt Angie, Aunt Lindsey, and her Great Grandma (for whom she is named). They put her on my belly immediately and I was able to hold her and bond with her while they evaluated her. She latched on pretty quickly and has been nursing well since.

We were able to come home the next day and Tyler is in love. He always asks to hug and kiss her and tells me "She so cute!" and "Awww - I love Baby Lola!".

Wow! What an absolutely perfect birth. Okay, maybe perfect minus the hour and 45 minutes of pushing. I know exactly how that feels sans pain meds! Although my labor was a looong 28 hours I only pushed for about 30 minutes and even that felt like forever. I'm so glad you had a midwife there with you- some doctors wouldn't have been so patient. Congratulations to you and your family! Lola is absolutely gorgeous.
